ATRC STEM Youth Mentorship Program
The ATRC STEM Youth Mentorship Program encourages high school and university students to discover exciting careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through impactful mentoring partnerships. Learn from the best and brightest R&D experts and find your niche in this ever-evolving, fast-paced industry.
The ATRC STEM Youth Mentorship Program is a flagship mentoring scheme dedicated to supporting students interested in STEM in furthering their education and professional experiences. High school and university students will be connected to and mentored by industry professionals across Abu Dhabi's research, development, and innovation ecosystem.
Our mentors seek to inspire and motivate students to pursue their STEM dreams by offering guidance and advice on important education and career decisions, coaching them on development areas, and providing them with a platform to share ideas and perspectives. The program will run throughout the academic year, with one-on-one mentoring sessions between a mentor and a mentee.

Program Eligibility:
Program acceptance will be dependent on the following
matching criteria:
High school / Secondary students:
- Submit an online application form
- Be a student in a grade between 9-12 in an Abu Dhabi-based school
- (If under 18) Obtain parents’ permission to participate in the program
University students:
- Submit an online application form
- Be actively enrolled in a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Technologies, Bachelor of Engineering, or an equivalent degree
- Be enrolled in an Abu Dhabi-based university or be a UAE citizen enrolled in an overseas university
We strive to pair every student who signs up with a mentor. However, depending on mentor availability, we may be unable to match all students with a mentor in each intake. The program team will be using the following selection criteria principles to select our mentee intake:
- Demonstrated academic excellence
- Demonstrated passion and interest in research, development, and innovation
- Development areas that can be targeted through the mentoring program

There is a minimum time commitment of 6 mentorship sessions per academic year. Count around 10-12 total hours.
Based on the information you submitted in your application form at

the matching criteria will mainly depend on your interests, career preferences and overall needs to support you in developing your skills.
You cannot specifically choose your mentor, but we will try our best to find the right match for you based off of your mentor preferences. Our mentor pool consists of some of the best STEM and R&D professionals in Abu Dhabi.
You can submit any preferences you would like, and we will work to find the best matching mentor for you.
ATRC is responsible for defining Abu Dhabi’s research strategy across academia and industry, consolidating, and facilitating efficient investment funding, and driving policy and regulation for agile decision-making.
Mentors will provide academic and career guidance to get you involved and exposed to research, development, and innovation in Abu Dhabi. Mentors will also be able to share their own experiences working in research, development, and innovation
The extent of closeness in your mentorship relationship is entirely up to you, based on your personal boundaries and preferences (as well as your mentor's). Your mentor should be the go-to person for any doubts or questions regarding your career future, and they may also offer personal advice on other topics if needed.
If you are unable to attend a session with your mentor, kindly notify your mentor of the scheduling conflict at least 24 hours in advance, allowing for the opportunity to reschedule the session accordingly.

- Expand your network and gain new perspectives

Program Eligibility:
To be eligible for the ATRC STEM Youth Mentorship Program, mentors must:
- Submit an online application form
- Work in R&D, science, technology, engineering and/or innovation fields in Abu Dhabi
- Commit to all one-on-one mentoring sessions and selected events
- Demonstrate passion and interest in research, development, and innovation

FAQs for Mentors
Mentees can be high schoolers in Abu Dhabi, university students enrolled in a Abu Dhabi-based university or UAE citizens enrolled in an overseas university. For university students, they need to be actively enrolled in a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Technologies, Bachelor of Engineering, or an equivalent degree. High school students will have needed to demonstration an interest in STEM.
Students are selected using our criteria principles: academic excellence and passion and interest in research, development, innovation, and / or STEM topics.
Based on the information you both submitted in your application form at
mentorship.atrc.ae,
the matching criteria mainly depends on your common interests, your professional experience and overall needs to support the mentee in developing their skills.
There is a minimum time commitment of 6 mentorship sessions per program year. Count around 10 total hours over the year between one-on-one sessions and events.
Mentoring sessions can be conducted online, in-person or a hybrid of both. It is up to you and your mentee to decide on the format that best suits both of you.
